Popular Science reports on UB's study of stingrays

An article in Popular Science reports mechanical engineers at UB are studying stingrays’ efficient way of moving through water to help design better underwater robots, and quotes graduate student Richard Bottom, who said in order to investigate why these flat fish move so strangely, the researchers mapped the fluid flows that occur around a stingray as it swims. Articles on the research also appeared on news outlets that include Science World Report, Science Daily, ECN Magazine, Nature World News, Red Orbit, French Tribune and UPI.
